The Guelph General Hospital MRI project involves the design-build delivery of a new Siemens MAGNETOM Flow 1.5T MRI suite as part of the Diagnostic Imaging expansion. Western Medical’s scope includes project management, design coordination, construction management, and coordination with Siemens, ETS-Lindgren, consultants, hospital stakeholders, and specialized trades.
The work includes architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and RF shielding coordination; preparation of permit and construction documents; MRI room preparation; equipment delivery path coordination; HVAC and cryogen vent provisions; electrical and grounding systems; installation of a complete RF shielding enclosure, RF door, penetration panels, waveguides, and associated MRI support infrastructure.
The project also includes EMI and vibration review, RF attenuation testing, grounding verification, commissioning support, deficiency resolution, as-built documentation, and final turnover. The completed suite will provide a fully compliant MRI environment designed to meet Siemens installation requirements, CSA standards, Ontario Building Code requirements, MRI safety considerations, and the operational needs of an active hospital diagnostic imaging department.
